An Afternoon at Fairview Jct.
Author: cn6218

Back when the vacant land (it had once been a Shell Gas station and Pop Shoppe retail location) next to Fairview Junction was still accessible to the public, I spent an afternoon there waiting for 137 to appear from downtown Halifax.  137 never did show, so I had to be content with GP38-2 4728 pulling a string of double-stacks off the container pier.  Hapag-Lloyd was a big customer at Ceres back then.  I suspect one of these ships had arrived from Europe and the other was headed there.  The interlocking was still intact on Sept. 7, 2001, as 4738 pulled past the dwarf signals for the Transfer track and yard lead RG-10, with the water of Bedford Basin showing through the gap between the front truck and the unit's small fuel tank.

Nice photo posting.  Especially like waterside scene in Photo 1.
Thanks for your posting.
