My CPR Slides 54

June 24 1975-Lethbridge Alberta-I am curious about this consist which consisted of these four locomotives and a caboose.  I did not think that many MLW locomotives worked out west.  Thoughts?

I have photos from 73 of MLW's west on coal. At some point the sent them all east?  eventually out of st. Luc.

Coal service for many of the big M's was their initial service, eventually bumped by SD40-2 in particular. Many locations in western Canada (including Vancouver and Victoria) had MLW switchers at some point or other, the big M's still worked at least as far west as Calgary (not in big numbers), and the C-424 was not uncommon on wayfreights and such in the Calgary-Red Deer axis, at least (my period in Calgary was 1979-1984). Just broad observations.
