Some CN Edson Sub Fall Colors
Author: arwye

With a good weather forecast for the Eastern Slopes of CN's Edson Subdivision it was time to venture off-island and capture some 2021 Fall Colors.
Image #1 shows CN8021 & 2538 westbound at Solomon on Thursday, September 30.
Image #2 has CN 3167-3832 & 2996 eastbound at Solomon on Friday, October 1.
Image #3 has CN 2749 eastbound crossing the Muskuta and Still Creek watercourses just before they enter the Athabasca River on the outskirts of Hinton.

Continuing our Fall expedition to CN's Edson Subdivision we have:
Image #1-CN 8996-2548-2573 west bound at Hinton on September 30th.
Image #2-A trio of older power eastbound between Galloway and Bickerdike West with SD70 5612 leading two SD75's (5660 & 57??) on Saturday, October 2. Those typical Alberta high overcast Autumn skies have taken over the day and heralding an afternoon of rain.
Image#3-The always spectacular overview of Swan Landing with an eastbound starting its climb towards Obed Summit.

Image#1-At Dalehurst, westbound CN 8996-2548 & 2573 wait just east of the Obed Mountain Mine road for three strung out freights climbing towards it on September 30. With detector reported average train speeds between 22 & 25mph heard on this trip, along with frequent wait time meets such as this, CN's between terminal travel time nears abysmal. Earlier today we watched an eastbound stack train leaving Jasper. Over five hours later it finally made Hinton, travelling just over 51 miles.
Images #2 & 3-With the spectacular Mount Roche Miette in the distance, a pair of ES44AC's with 2880 leading make their climb towards daylight and Obed Summit at Dalehurst on Friday, October 1.

Images 1 & 2-Between Hinton and Edson we find westbound CN 2857 & 2853 paired up at Medicine Lodge and then again at Hargwen on Friday, October 1.
Image #3- With our 2-day break of good weather now a memory we start our Saturday, October 2 morning with CN 3227 & 2801 leaving Bickerdike West and a meet with  that trio of CN SD70-75's at Hargwen.

Beautiful! It's also great to see pine forests without extensive beetle kill.

#6 is a keeper as well. There's some locals who are posting on RailRictures dot net, really amazing area. Checking the dates on the photos can help plan a trip, My only trip to that area I turned around at Jasper, so I don't have much idea about the area.
Post 'em if ya got 'em.
