Mergers have brought together two uniquely painted locomotives on CP local V84, which runs between Port Coquitlam and Huntingdon BC.

CMQ 9017 & D&H 7304 are seen pulling back onto the main from a customer's spur at Albion BC, after successfully re-railing a car that had derailed because of a build-up of ice.

I'd passed by on the Lougheed Highway and noticed the units and the skeleton car stopped on the mainline at about 15:35. I cursed my luck at not being able to get to the scene as I was on a shopping errand with my wife. When I came back about an hour later, I saw that the three loaded cars that should have been lifted by V84 were still on the customer's spur track and I wondered why they were still there. Your post explains that, thank you.

Was the ice build-up in a flangeway on the grade crossing?

The ice build up was actually in the entrance that's shared with trucks, and I'm guessing was caused by vehicle traffic compacting the snow.
