Canadian Railroads > What happened to the Canadian # 2 ?

Just wondering what happened to # 2  It took 8 hours from Sudbury JCT. to Parry Sound   dp.08:32-arr. 16:25 .
With a Toronto arrival time of 01:30 ??? Yikes...

A friend who has "contacts" with CN passed on some information to me. This was not, as many railfans would like to think, a case of CN deliberately shafting VIA. The most recent of the delays north of Washago involved a hot box on a freight car. Removing that from the lengthy train was not an easy process. The crew eventually ran out of hours and a replacement crew had to be waited for. Number #2 arrived at Toronto Union at 02:22.
