Canadian Railroads > End of Double TrackDate: 01/15/22 15:15 End of Double Track Author: cn6218 The Ocean has just about come to the end of the double track west of Truro, NS on October 26, 2000. The big maple above the second F40 had been a glorious blaze of yellow leaves earlier in the month, but it was almost all gone now. Before long the south track in the foreground here would be gone too, in CN's drive to rationalize track by getting rid of ABS signals and directional running. Up until this point trains nearing Truro from either direction would have to call the RTC for an OCS clearance through one of the two tracks, giving railfans in town a heads up that something was on the way. Now trains just run through on signal indications, with no communication at all, unless they will be entering the yard.
