MK 5001 at Prince George, BC.  This unit had a 6 cylinder Sulzer diesel motor and perhaps was upgrade to 1800 or 2000 horse power. BC Rail had it summer of 1981 for testing etc.

BN 1703 October 1985 at Bellingham, WA.  I had been stateside for a holiday and found this unit resting between assignments.

thanks for looking,
Doug

Great variety. Amazing how many hoses you had to hook up back then.

Nice set, interesting M-K units.

Any story behind the big crane in the background of #1 at Chetwynd?

Very nice posting.  Most especially like you BAR photos.  Instamatic photos are always better than no photos.

Good stuff as usual, Doug. Even the BN Geep is interesting as it's a GP-9 that was originally assigned to Camas Prairie service and was there for many years.

It was a heavy lift stiff leg crane used for off loading rail cars onto trucks of heavy equipment, construction materials etc for the large hydro electric dam projects on the Peace River. If I recall the crane was owned by BC Hydro.
