Good photo. CN had over 42,000 of the 1937 AAR style boxcar, both in 10' and 10'6" versions. As "Thomas the Tank Engine" might say, a useful freight car.

Those cars moved a LOT of wheat over the years until the specialized covered hoppers took over with their faster loading and their much faster unloading.

Usually the letter D on the side of a car meant "destroyer" and was ready to be scrapped
