BCR green Alcos and the plaid shirt.

The "Dawson Creek Switcher", with British Columbia Railway RS18s-613 & 626 on the point, is N/B on the Dawson Creek Sub. Both were built by Montreal Locomotive Works. 613 in 1962 & 626 in 1965. July 10, 1986 near Wabi, BC.

That's a long way from anywhere. Do trains still go up that way?

An outstanding shot, and although you have to love the green MLWs, the horn cluster and bell, next to the cyclops headlight on a flat cab face, was not a good look.

Agreed. IIRC the Cartier, Arnaud, and Wabush Lake low-nose RS18's were similar. Interesting that MLW was still building RS18's into the mid-60's. I think they only started building Centurys for CP and CN around 1965 (not counting CP 4200 circa 1963).

Others have better info than I do but the old route is in use north of Quesnel / Williams Lake general area, simply as a feeder into the CN at Prince George. There are stories of a once a week Private Passenger Train that travels the North Vancouver / Squamish / Lilloet to Prince George Route in the summer months, but we don't seem to talk about that very much.

Nice catch btw, the locals and special projects are of interest to many of the BCR fans.
