Author: cn6218 It's been a long time since unit trains delivered grain to the Halifax grain elevators at Ocean Terminals, in the south end of the city. What little grain comes to Halifax is mostly for local consumption (P&H Milling), with only a few cars going to the elevators.
On March 5, 2009 the pair of battered GP38-2s assigned to train 507 were starting up Bedford Hill with a dozen or so loads for the Windsor & Hantsport. With the demise of the W&H in 2010, these cars now only go as far as Truro, NS, and the final delivery is by truck. GTD ![]() Date: 01/26/23 12:30 Re: Unit Grain Train? Date: 01/26/23 15:24 Re: Unit Grain Train? Author: cn6218 507 was the morning switch job in Rockingham going back to at least 1996, and probably earlier. For a short while both trains operated with the same number, which caused confusion for the RTC. I'm surprised they didn't do away with the local's number first, before renumbering 407 to 507. Apparently the reason was so that crews could be scheduled differently, but I don't know the exact details.
