More from Beaconsfield, QC
Author: cn6218

In addition to the CP eastbound freight and VIA 62 last month (May 21st) at the Beaconsfield footbridge, I also caught a couple westbound trains on the CN tracks.  CN 389 appeared at 13:49, with ET44AC 3040 up front and another ex-CREX leaser, ES44AC 3944, working as DPU.

VIA 62 had been warned that they would hold west of the Dorval crossovers for 67, and eventually that train showed up at Beaconsfield, running on 389's yellow lights, at 13:57.  VIA likes to keep their trains on the south track at Dorval so passengers don't have to cross the tracks, so it wasn't an option to leave 67 on the south track and pass the freight right away.  The RTC did tell the freight that VIA would be going around them at Coteau Jct.

I noticed that the area seemed to have fewer trees in the way compared to the last time I had been there.  Ray commented that it was the recent ice storm did some of them in.

Here's the view from the same spot, exactly a year earlier, as VIA 67 was heading west at 13:52.  At least one of those trees didn't look like it  was long for this world anyway.  :-)
