Shortly after the Pool Train agreement, the still pro-passenger CN introduced the Rapido Service in the Quebec-Windsor corridor. But change was coming with the new Turbo trains on the Montreal - Toronto something was needed to eliminate the costly dining car services offered in southwestern Ontario. The Tempo with in your seat, microwaved food service was the answer. Schedules were geared to same day travel verses overnight travel thus eliminating the need of sleeping cars.
