Canadian Railroads > RDC crossing International RR Bridge in BuffaloDate: 09/04/23 12:24 RDC crossing International RR Bridge in Buffalo Author: SouthBuffalo1 Was driving under International RR bridge today around 12:30 PM. This is the bridge between Fort Erie Ontario and Black Rock NY ( Buffalo). Carries CP, CN and NS freight. No passenger traffic. Saw an RDC crossing from Fort Erie to Black Rock. Looked to have CN markings. Back in the late 70's I took the TH&B RDC from Buffalo Central Terminal to Toronto. We crossed at Niagara Falls. Just wondering if anyone knows what this was. Some type of excursion?

Originally RDC-1 CN D-108, later CN 6108, later same number with VIA, converted to CN track geometry car 15016 in 2008, and renumbered to just 1501 in 2010. CN seems to mostly make that demand of VIA, not their own movements. I have plenty of images of 1501 operating solo. But I did see a recent image of the RDC behind a 6-axle GE, so perhaps the policy has changed.
