Canadian Railroads > Neat consist on a CN local

Looking like it could be a scene somewhere along the former Northern Pacific in the Dakotas, BNSF 2090 leads CN train L568 west off the siding at Stratford, Ontario on 09-19-2023. A GTW (5849) and a CN solid blue dip (4902) make up the rest of the locomotive consist. The station is former Grand Trunk, a CN predecessor. That's Goderich and Exeter GP15-1 # 1533 in the distance (ex CR). It would be taken east (to Oshawa IIRC) the next evening.

I'm pleased to see the flower baskets have returned. They weren't there a few years ago on my last visit to Stratford. The station agent told me a while back (the position was abolished in 2012) that  VIA didn't provide the flowers.  It was the Tourist Board or the Stratford Festival.  I'm surprised they still do that considering the lack of train service.

With VIA being down to one train a day and one GO train that will be cancelled in a few weeks there can't be too many people arriving by train. Even the annual fund-raising Stratford Express was discontinued several years ago because it was so unreliable the start of the play sometimes had to be delayed.

You picked a good day to visit. That consist only stayed together like that for a few day. I’m jealous!

This was broken up the next day....2090 and ratty CN GP38 was the power the next afternoon.
