CN yard at Jasper in 1980
Author: gcm

Dec 1980
Interesting equipment in the yard including a homemade caboose from a wooden boxcar and a couple ancient tank cars.
That is the Super Continental on the far right with Prince Rupert? equipment under steam.
Another lightweight car was in the work train consist.

Nice! This is only like a year after VIA completely took over from CN right? Seems like it could be 1970! Still at least two tracks that could be accessed from the Jasper train station - let alone the Rupert Rocket on the side or pocket track? No locomotive in the picture for either train (or is that it in the middle with the passenger cars to the far right nearly off the picture)? The steam is there! Looks like there are passenger cars at the far right on the platform! Cool picture!

I don't believe there was a loco by the cars.
The train on the far right was the Super Continental at its station stop.
Thamls.

It's a flanger, not really a caboose, for removing snow from between rails.
