Canadian Railroads > One unit, two different paintschemesDate: 03/27/24 15:36 One unit, two different paintschemes Author: newtonville150 In July 1999 I caught CP #5742 with sibling #5743 on an eastbound Iron Highway train at
my favourite spot in those days, the Nichols Road wooden overbridge in Newtonville, ON. About eight months later, after the Iron Highway service had been rebranded as Expressway, and been equipped with new RORO flat cars, I caught the westbound counterpart at Darlington siding between Bowmanville ON and Oshawa ON. CP #5742 and sister #5745 had by this time been repainted in a special Expressway scheme. They were the only units so treated and this is the only time I caught them together. ...John Reay, Springhill NS Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/27/24 15:38 by newtonville150. By 2004 they were working in Vancouver Terminal transfer service and on the last day of the year I photographed them on a southbound run down the Westminster Sub. It was not a complete surprise to see them together -- the Coquitlam Yard motive power planner was "one of us" and could be relied on to marshall interesting lash-ups. (1) CP 5745-5742 diverge from the CP Cascade Sub. at MacAulay, junction with the Westminster Sub. in Port Coquitlam, at 14:45 on December 31, 2004.. (2) 40 minutes later, the pair are seen at Fraser Mills, Mile 4.9, in Coquitlam. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/28/24 06:03 by railsmith. Thank goodness for employee railfans...there are several where I am in the Maritimes now, and there were several back in the day in southern Ontario. ...jr Date: 03/28/24 17:03 Re: One unit, two different paintschemes Author: ns1000 I like the first Pic 2!!
