Canadian Railroads > The sea to sky routeDate: 04/10/24 21:03 The sea to sky route Author: loleta So the highway from Vancouver to Whistler is called, but the name applies as well to the CN line from Vancouver to Squamish. Here are some recent photos, thanks to the days now being a little longer for photographing this afternoon train:
1. Ex-Citirail 2789 leads train 546 north through West Vancouver at mile 9. 2. 546 with the old Britannia copper mine. 3. Running light engine on the outskirts of Squamish at Shannon. Loleta Fernbridge Date: 04/10/24 21:06 Re: The sea to sky route Author: loleta 4. CN 2649 leads train 546 southward at Britannia.
5. 2649 south again, at Porteau with a view of Anvil Island. 6. One last photo from this day, approaching Horseshoe Bay. - L.F. Date: 04/10/24 21:10 Re: The sea to sky route Author: loleta 7. Another day, another 546: northbound at Deeks.
8. And southbound at Horseshoe Bay. 9. The Horseshoe Bay tunnel bypasses the orignal Pacific Great Eastern route, much of which is now part of the Seaview Trail in West Vancouver but a part of which remains as a spur. -L.F. Rich Date: 04/11/24 19:26 Re: The sea to sky route Author: jgilmore Great bunch, living as I do on the dusty southern plains I think my head would explode if I saw that much gorgeous scenery all around me... :>)
JG Date: 04/11/24 19:34 Re: The sea to sky route Author: tomstp I followed that line from Vancouver to Lilloot (spelling?) in 1995 and the scenery just really blows your mind. Also rode their steam train. Thanks for the reminder.

I don't remember the exact focal length, but somewhere between 14 and 20mm. - L.F. Date: 04/12/24 07:35 Re: The sea to sky route Author: jmbreitigan Beuatiful series of photos.
Date: 04/12/24 10:11 Re: The sea to sky route Author: SPB Really nice photography. Certainly picturesque country. When we were in Whistler a few years ago, I recall needing to be vigilant of grizzly bears when out in the wilderness.
