Canadian Railroads > More VIA Venture SightingsDate: 04/20/24 17:09 More VIA Venture Sightings Author: cn6218 The new Siemens Venture trainsets are becoming more common in the corridor these days. That's probably old news for people who live there, but for this Maritimer, the novelty has not worn off yet.
On a recent trip to Montreal, we passed VIA 39 sitting in the siding at Trudel (just west of Charney), waiting to meet intermodal Z120 and a very late VIA 24 behind that (P42 and HEP-II cars) on April 5. Although they quickly got ahead of us (95 mph at times), they lost enough time at the station stop in Drummondville that we met them again at Saint-Edouard when we stopped for gas. Charger SCV-42 2209 was leading, with cab-coach 2308 bringing up the rear. On April 8, I was up early to catch VIA 20 near the east end of Southwark Yard (just east of St. Lambert) at 06:46. Cab-coach 2305 was leading, but the going-away shot was so badly back lit I couldn't make out a number on the locomotive!
