SD60s are back on CN's Squamish Sub.
Author: loleta

A few years ago the ex-Oakway SD60s became standard power on CN train 546 between North Vancouver and Squamish, BC. (They're also standard on the various transfer runs around the Lower Mainland.) Then for a few years 546 seemed to get every kind of power except the SD60s. Now they're commonplace here again, with the occasional exception.
1. 546 northbound, exiting the Horseshoe Bay tunnel. That's the original Pacific Great Eastern route in the foreground.
2. At Porteau.
3. Arriving in Squamish.

4. One of the exceptions from last week, CN 2291 north near Shannon.
5. And back to the SD60s on April 20: three light engines northbound in West Vancouver.

One round trip per day, leaving North Vancouver mid-afternoon. Occasionally the train will be cancelled if there's no work in Squamish.

Those rails of the former Pacific Great Eastern---what are they now?  Used?  Abandoned?  Remnants after the tunnel was built?  I"m not from that area....
