Canadian Railroads > VIA #26 Passing Potash EmptiesDate: 04/29/24 14:23 VIA #26 Passing Potash Empties Author: Ray_Murphy These pictures were taken on March 24th in the Ville St-Pierre section of Montreal.
I was planning to catch VIA #26 (which now is often a Venture trainset), but unexpectedly a westbound CN 731 (potash empties) came by. These are 2-mile+ long trains. This one was powered by CN 2950, 3210 and 3939 up front, and CN 3914 at the rear. Just as the rear unit passed under the bridge I was standing on, VIA #26 appeared (Pictures #1, 2, 3). Pictures #4 and 5 show CN 731's head-end power, and Picture #6 is a photo mid-train, taken 12 minutes after the head end went by.
