Canadian Railroads > Ft Nelson BCDate: 05/24/24 12:09 Ft Nelson BC Author: INTLRAILTRAVELLER Since there are wildfires burning right near by and the whole town evacuated for weeks/months, Has anyone heard what the status of CN's former BC Rail line there is? The Alcan Highway is closed and if I remember right it parallels the highway in places.
Hope every thing gets back to normal soon for everyone affected Posted from Android Date: 05/24/24 12:41 Re: Ft Nelson BC Author: TCnR Have been checking CBC news website occasionally, some info but the photos show details as well. Here's today's edition quoting the Mayor Rob Fraser:
:"Fraser says he was "extremely happy" to start thinking about an end date to the evacuation that began on May 10 as strong winds pushed the Parker Lake blaze to within about two kilometres of Fort Nelson. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/fort-nelson-wildfire-evacuees-could-return-next-week-says-mayor-1.7213388 Date: 05/25/24 10:38 Re: Ft Nelson BC Author: exrtc The Parker Puddle fire is to the northeast of Fort Nelson. The rail line terminates south of the Muskwa River, south of town, so it should be fine.
