Canadian Railroads > Flat Car Friday - Pair of Old CN Heavyweight Depressed CentresDate: 05/24/24 17:21 Flat Car Friday - Pair of Old CN Heavyweight Depressed Centres Author: feclark Here's a pair of gently depressed-centre flat cars on CN, both of considerable vintage. They look like something to put a Caterpillar on, or some such thing. Two photos each.
1. CN 57549 was seen at Edson, AB, on April 4, 2004. This is the A end, it appears. 2. Same car. From this view, it's pretty apparent it doesn't have a solid deck, but comprises three drop-centre sills with the central one higher than the side sills. It would be an interesting project, except for all those rivets. 3. Bearing some broad resemblance, but with a solid deck, this is CN 54567 on a siding at Spicer, BC, July 28, 2013. It was built 10-23. Both ends have the stem-winder brake wheel, so not sure what's A or B. Edited 2 time(s). Here's the diagonally opposite view of CN 54567. It seems a very unhandy place to leave this thing.
