Canadian Railroads > Flat Car Friday - CN Calder Diesel Shop Wheel TransporterDate: 05/31/24 09:32 Flat Car Friday - CN Calder Diesel Shop Wheel Transporter Author: feclark Another OCS photo. On May 5, 1999, I was on the south side of Calder shops (Walker Yard, Edmonton) and up on my stepstool to get above the chain link fence. This is CN 54080, a 55' flat car built 6-41 and at some point modified for carrying wheel sets for the diesel shop. You'll note the instruction 'Do Not Hump.' The metal tabs don't appear to be effective for keeping the wheelsets on the car, but presumably keep the bearings from working loose.
Oh, yes, the diesel is one of a quartet of GT SD38s that languished there for a while. Fred Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 05/31/24 09:36 by feclark. ![]() |
