Canadian Railroads > NB Southern Early DaysDate: 08/26/24 06:51 NB Southern Early Days Author: cn6218 NB Southern took over the former CP lines east of Brownville Jct. early in 1995. Without any motive power of their own, they started off using leased power from CP, including some of the RS-23s that had been assigned to the various New Brunswick branch lines. On June 11, 1995 I found 8033 and another unidentified RS-23 switching the Irving pulp mill on the west side of Saint John. This arrangement continued for about a year until NBSR leased a fleet of ex-SP GP9s from OmniTrax, and bought some used end-cab switchers. 8033 eventually wound up at Eagle Forest Products in Miramichi, before moving to the Sartigan, where it is presently on the roster with a handful of other MLWs.
