Canadian Railroads > CPKC Business Train in BC

CPKC ran an OCS business train from Calgary to Vancouver on Sep 01-02. A handful of upper level management types were doing an inspection tour. The train ran Calgary to Kamloops Sept 01 and Kamloops to Port Coquitlam Yard on Sept 02. I caught up to it on Sep 02 and gave chase from Yale to Agassiz.
 
1. Train 31B was running against the current of traffic on normally eastbound only CP in the Fraser Canyon. My first encounter was the train exiting the rock tunnel at Yale.
 
2. Further west departing the old west switch at what was the former Yale siding.
 
3. Stopped at Choate to meet two eastbounds.

4. Meeting train 104 at Choate.
 
5. Crossing American Creek just west of Choate.
 
6. Coming through Haig which is across the Fraser River from Hope BC.

7. Passing the target signal that is the eastbound approach signal for the former siding at Katz.

8. Motoring at track speed under Hwy 11 approaching the town of Agassiz.
 

Sep 2 was the end of the holiday weekend and the defacto end of summer holidays. I attempted to keep up the chase but holiday traffic was just too much. I made it to two minutes behind the train at Deroche but 15 miles later I was 20 minutes behind the train and abandoned things at that point.

The train lingered in Port Coquitlam Yard all day Sept 03 and the morning of Sept 04 departed eastbound. As of this writing this train has returned to home base at Calgary.

Great coverage, congrats on the IOTD.

It sounds like they stayed on CP trackage, for some reason did not follow the traffic pattern agreement, maybe Business trains are not part of the agreement...?
