I can't come up with anything else but Unfreakingbelievable!  How the hell can you keep passengers on a train for 10 hours???  VIA is so lucky there wasn't a passenger mutiny.   

Reminds me of that Amtrak 18 hour siege of a Michigan train. There, there was a mutiny, right out onto tthe highway. 
I suppose Canadians are more polite than we are. For that crewman who yelled at passengers, ordered them to sit down like a marine drill Sergeant, and yanked the guy's phone, that was grounds for a legal physical altercation in self defense to retrieve stolen property from an assault. Instead, they called him "rude". Of course, US rights may not apply up there. 

Even though VIA Rail is a wonderful company, what happened a few weeks ago onboard the corridor train in Quebec was completely unacceptable and dangerous. The crew didn't handle the situation well all across the board. They didn't communicate enough to passengers what was going on. It sounded like the crew was very condescending to the passengers as well. They didn't provide enough food for passengers. Hopefully this issue can be a big learning experience to the VIA Rail staff so that way going forward, these incidents never ever happen again.

They had a disastrous "learning experience" in Ontario around Xmas 2022 and evidently learned nothing. 
There's always Orleans Express.
