Canadian Railroads > Odd CN Class NumbersDate: 10/14/24 10:39 Odd CN Class Numbers Author: cn6218 I mentioned a few days ago that the CN AC44C6Ms rebuilt from BNSF Dash-9s ought to have a different class number, More "New" Motive Power (trainorders.com) The example I shot on Sept. 14 had two of the new rebuilds, one ex-CN and the other ex-BNSF, but with the same class. However Z120 from Sept. 11 had an ex-BNSF leading, and a class designation that seems to defy logic, EF-644be. Maybe the "b" refers to BNSF, or maybe it's just another numbering mistake at GE/WABTEC. That was the case almost 10 years ago with a batch of ES44ACs that got 3000-series numbers, Brand New ACs (trainorders.com)
