MLW Monday at the Millers Creek Mine
Author: cn6218

The conductor was preparing to dismount and get the yard switches at Millers Creek as Windsor & Hantsport Work Extra 8042 East pulled across the Avondale Rd. in Mantua, Nova Scotia on June 27, 2005.  I had recently acquired a DSLR, and was trying to redo some scenes on the WHRC that I had already shot on slide film.  There was some urgency since the shortline had recently taken delivery of 4 GP9RMs from Cando Contracting, and it seemed like the RS-23s might not be long for this world.  But for a few more weeks the trio of 8019, 8041 and 8042 were still doing the work they were purchased for 10 years earlier when Iron Roads bought what remained of the Dominion Atlantic from Canadian Pacific, hauling gypsum from this mine and the one at Wentworth to dockside in Hantsport, 3 trips each weekday.
