In addition 10% off is available on the Winnipeg - Churchill train for Sleeper Plus. Book by December 3 for travel through April 15. Although the discount doesn't apply to the full sleeper fare, the cancellation penalty on discounted fares is only 10%. When VIA offers the sleeper deals (there have been none recently) there are no changes or cancellations permitted.

I've taken the westbound twice-once in its entirety in February of 2023 and the other time was for the partial route from Toronto to Winnipeg in April of 2024. If you can book any sort of sleeper on the Canadian, I would do it and try to do it when a substantial discount is being offerred.
By the way, in the next year, I have a few VIA Rail trips planned-sometime in either May or June of 2025, I'll be taking the Sudbury to White River route in its entirety. I want to ride it while the RDC cars are still in operation. There is word that those could be retired before the long distance fleet goes. Not definate yet but it's possible that next Fall, I may take the eastbound Canadian from Vancouver to Jasper, spend a night there, and then take the Jasper to Prince Rupert train in its entirety. This trip to Western Canada, I would do with friends. |
