Canadian Railroads > The Elusive Wisconsin Central Heritage DieselDate: 11/26/24 17:52 The Elusive Wisconsin Central Heritage Diesel Author: cn6218 CN painted a number of relatively new diesels in "heritage" paint to mark the 25th anniversary of the company's IPO in 1995. One of the repaints was ET44AC 3069, shown here in my first encounter with it, crossing the Riviere du Loup near Saint-Joseph-de-Kamouraska on the Pelletier Cutoff on September 1st, 2016 with train 306. I didn't shoot it leading a train again until 2022, by which time it had the new paint job, and was preparing to lead train L507 out of Dartmouth on March 3. I didn't see it again until May 3, 2023 when it was leading Z120 past the short-lived Munchies in Bedford, NS. I've really been striking out as far as getting a nicely lit shot of this thing goes, except for the version in CN paint.

But three hours later, when the train showed in Bedford at 10:22, there was no blue sky to be seen. After changing crews at mile 7, I got a second chance at 10:38, but had to resort to Photoshop yet again. For the record, early ES44AC 2803 was the DPU on this train, rolling past me at 10:48, as the train entered Pace Yard a quarter mile ahead.
