Canadian Railroads > BCOL blue in Nova ScotiaDate: 12/30/24 08:57 BCOL blue in Nova Scotia Author: newtonville150 December 30th at 10:18, CN L507 by Oxford Junction, BCOL 4646, CN 3328 with 244 axles
The other day CN 306 arrived in Moncton NB with two former British Columbia Railway C44-9Ws in its consist. Neither returned west on CN 305. This one, BCOL 4646 headed farther east to Dartmouth NS on L508. The Moncton-Dartmouth daily freights usually get the same power for up to two weeks at a time. Apparently the other unit, BCOL 4648, also in dark blue, cannot lead anymore. They seem to use them when they are available, so I guess that is an endorsement. I think at least one of the former BC Rail diesels no longer has the cornering lights. What they are not crazy about is the old fashion bell above the numberboards. Apparently it is very loud in the cab. An e-bell underneath the frame on the conductor's side is much preferred. If we had a CN or RMR unit leading I really noticed the lesser illumination at night with only headlight and ditch lights as compared to basically 6 lights on a BC Rail loco.
