During my career at CN Engineering Work Equipment I had the opportunity to work on a number of innovative projects while stationed at CN H.Q. in Montreal.
As part of a major Track Force Maintenance rationalization program, a variety of new, mechanized, labour reducing equipment initiatives were introduced.
This impressive looking track unit was one such endeavour.
CN 433-21 is a Plasser American model MPMV-50 (Multi-Purpose Maintenance Vehicle), serial number 1842, built in 1989 at the Plasser plant in Chesapeake, VA.
I took this photo during the initial in-field performace testing and acceptance procedure that was conducted on all new Work Equipment machines being delivered to CN at the time.
The location is Charny, QC on December 14, 1989.
