While attending a CN Work Equipment Regional Managers meeting in Moncton I snapped CN 55696 double ended plow at Gordon Yard on August 9, 1979. Date: 01/04/25 15:23 Re: CN double ended snow plows Author: feclark That's a nice shot, well lit.
Fred Date: 01/04/25 23:27 Re: CN double ended snow plows Author: SP4360 That's quite the battlewagon.

Joe Date: 01/06/25 12:09 Re: CN double ended snow plows Author: randgust Who was the builder on those?
Date: 01/06/25 12:16 Re: CN double ended snow plows Author: poshell I believe there were a total of 4 double ended plows constructed by CN in 1939 at their Transcona shops in Winnipeg, MB.
Numbered CN 55696-CN 55699, they were designed for use on subdivisions where no wye existed to turn the plow for a reverse direction movement. P.E.I. (Prince Edward Island) was where at least two of the odd-ball plows spend much of their working lives. I am not aware of any similar plows on other North American roads. I have an article here somewhere that I will locate and post to share some additional information on these CN built snow plows. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/07/25 10:04 by poshell. |
