Canadian Railroads > MoW Monday - CN High-speed Jordan Spreader at JasperDate: 03/17/25 13:49 MoW Monday - CN High-speed Jordan Spreader at Jasper Author: feclark Here's the last of my shots (I think) of CN snow-fighting equipment, spread over several Mondays. This is CN 50942, shot at Jasper, AB on August 13, 2001. It's allowed 60 mph in transit, and you'll note the high front-end plow. According to the TSG, it's s/n 1448, blt. 1975, model 4-100. I'm curious what about its construction suits it to 60 mph speeds, rather than the 25 mph limit of last week's posted units.

The main concern was that the plow or one of the blades working itself out of the up and locked position and doing some unplanned rearranging the right of way.

The TSG info is correct. :-) CN 50942, Class Code 3IA, is a Jordan Type J 4-100 spreader, serial number 1448, built in 1975. It is equipped with a high front blade (snow curls installed), broken (articulated) side wings, front cab, raised rear platform, and diesel powered hydraulic controlled cylinders. |
