MoW Monday - CP Ohio Crane with Clamshell Attachment
Author: feclark

On March 26, 1986, I encountered CP 414219, an Ohio crane whose TSG info is as follows: Model DE 400, serial 5130, blt. 08/81, capacity 40/50 tons. This is in Ottawa on CP's Elwood Sub, south of Elwood diamond. My notebook says it's at the Sawmill Creek Bridge, but the lighting tells me I'm on the northwest side of the crane, so this must be just south of the Brookfield Pathway, which was protected by the crossing lights whose target you see. The clamshell attachment has been used to recover old ties.

Thanks for posting that great shot of CP 414219.
I shot the same crane 15 years later on July 9, 2001 at the CP Work Equipment shop in Revelstoke, BC.
CP 414219 became surplus and was for sale at Port Coquitlam, BC on October 5, 2020.
For those interested in MoW 'stuff', I'll post some crane shots and other Work Equipment in the coming days.

That's a massive Golden Beaver decal!
