Canadian Railroads > Class UnitDate: 04/14/25 14:13 Class Unit Author: cn6218 SD75IACC 8300 is the first of the SD75I AC conversion locomotives on CN, and on March 7, 2025 it was the trailing unit on L507, the daily Dartmouth-to-Moncton manifest train. In the first photo here, 507 is backing into the Truro yard to pick up 7 cars from Truro and the CBNS at 09:30. The first group of SD75IACCs (we assume there will be more) is CN class GF-643j.
I followed 507 to Moncton where they were held at Painsec Jct., about 6 miles east of the VIA station, to wait for a very late Z120 which was just about to leave Gordon Yard. Z120 is shown nearing the VIA station at 13:02 with quite a collection of power, ex-CREX ES44AC 3953, ET44AC 3003, ES44AC 2830 and SD75I 5737. Not shown is the DPU, ES44AC 2898. At 13:44 507 finally made its appearance at the same location, West End, with SD70M-2 8859 leading the brand new 8300 and the rest of the train across Vaughan Harvey Blvd. In the background from left to right are the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Avenir Centre, VIA station, NB Tel Tower, with the former Eaton's headquarters for the Maritimes in front of the tower. ![]() ![]() ![]() Date: 04/15/25 09:18 Re: Class Unit Author: texchief1 Nice shots, Geoff! Initially, 25 were sent for conversion to AC, but there may be more now. Bill Miller probably knows. GTD |
