European Railroad Discussion > Some MOW-equipment in Munich-EastDate: 04/27/14 09:51 Some MOW-equipment in Munich-East Author: E111 Today, I just want to share a couple of ordinary shots with you. As right now a lot of maintenance of way work is happening east of Munich (Germany), the station Munich East offers a good sight to some of the equipment used for that work. The works on the Munich – Rosenheim road is performed by a company called Spitzke, one of the leading providers of such services here in Germany (another one e.g. would be Wiebe).
Picture 1: A Northrail G1206 (Vossloh (former MaK) 2012, diesel-hydraulic, 1,500 kW) and the Vossloh G18 (Vossloh, diesel-hydraulic, 1,800 kW; just one unit was built) leading the MOW-equipment consisting of a ballast cleaner, a track renewal unit and a damping / lifting unit out of Munich. Picture 2: The incoming DB 294 624-2 (MaK 1968, diesel-hydraulic, 800 kW) leading a shortline freight train is crossing the two units in picture 1 Picture 3: The last part of the tamping / lifting unit in the consist part 2 to follow! Picture 4: The ballast cleaning unit RM 900 S (304 metric tons, 102 m length, 1,500 kW power, 390 meters per hour cleaning capacity). Here I like especially the heaps of pipes and tubes connecting the segments Picture 5: The X.R. Gleislogistik GmbH’s unit XR 01, an Vossloh diesel-hydraulic G 1206, leaving with a ballast-train Munich-East. This unit is currently leased to Spitzke. Picture 6: The X.R. Gleislogistik GmbH’s unit XR 02 (Vossloh G 1000, 2005, diesel-hydraulic, 1,100 kW) waiting with her waste ballast train. Also, this unit is currently leased to Spitzke. I guess rock throwers are not a problem there?
