European Railroad Discussion > Finland: Tampere to Get TramwayDate: 06/18/14 07:18 Finland: Tampere to Get Tramway Author: McKey The City of Tampere politicians finally yesterday, after discussing for several decades (for real), decided to go ahead with planning of the tramway. This tramway will connect the southeastern parts of the city through city center to northwest. The building is supposed to get started in 2015 and be finished for traffic sometime in 2017-18. I think this tramway will be of "normal gauge" for Finland, 1524 mm / 5', where the one in use in Helsinki is narrow gauge 100 mm wide.
