Italian Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), steam locomotive, 851.057.  The locomotives of the group 851 have been a group of steam locomotives used as switchers until the 1970’s.  These locomotives were built by Adriatic network (RA) which built the service line.  In 1905, along with locomotives groups then FS 290, 600 and 870 also former RA, were included among those that the FS reputed worthy of further orders in anticipation of the completion of the project of the new groups fit to cope with the traffic growth following the nationalization.  The advent of the locomotives of the 940 group relegated the 851-series to the role of shunting locomotives.  With a geographical distribution complementary to that of the group 835 of these "interesting cars" they saw service until the end of the era of steam traction in Italy in the seventies.  Static display near Rhaetian Railway station, Tirona, Italy, September 9, 2015.
