If there was a drawback about visiting the big marshalling yard at Decatur - Maschen it would be that the local trains only call there once an hour. We missed the last one by less than fifteen minutes but would have also missed that Class 66 in the last thread. Forty Five minutes, what to do? Oh yeah, plenty of trains Going by on both sides of the platforms. Lets watch!
1) Mural for Maschen, not sure what was going on there.
2) Intercity going away from Hamburg. I could not pin down what trains were what but this was taken at 2:20 pm if anyone wants to figure it out.
3) Note the clear signal with a clear on the distant signal. That's the bridge across the yard in the background.

4) Eurogate Intermodal which also had MRCE markings on it as well. 2:36pm
5) That's Bill. That looks like a professional
6) ICE coming from hamburg at 2:38 pm.

7-8) SBB Cargo-International using a locomotive with the ELL markings as well 2:40 pm.
9) RE-3 toward Hamburg 2:45 pm.

10) It has passed the signals which stay at clear
11) Then the distant signal drops to expect stop at the next signal before the main signal drops to red.
12) RB-31 to Luneburg gets a load of people who work somewhere the big yard at 2:53 pm.

13) It gets going about two minutes later.
14-15) Unknown Regional train at 2:56 pm.

16-17) Another Intercity from Hamburg at 2:59 pm.
18) Our RB-31 to Hamburg arrives a minute late at 3:01 pm.

19) We board the SnackWagen end. Notice that the signal is lit clear for another train to pass us on the outside track.

We'll ride this train back to Hamburg where we hope Paul is waiting. We had an enjoyable time at maschen which is good because we know we'll hear about being late from Paul.
