Southern Railway no.190 Lyd
Author: 86235

On Sunday the Ffestiniog's subscribers train was hauled by new build Improved Manning-Wardle 2-6-2T Lyd (Boston Lodge 2010) based on the four locomotives built by M-W for the Lynton and Barnstaple and Southern Railways between 1898 and 1925.

She hauled five cars from Minffordd to Dinas over the Welsh Highland, with a watering stop at Beddgelert

Bearing in mind the Lynton and Barnstaple closed 81 years ago, rather remarkably a second L&B locomotive is scheduled for completion in 2017, a replica of Baldwin 2-4-2T Lyn of 1897. Being built for the re-born Lynton & Barnstaple it is expected to visit North Wales for the WHR Superpower Weekend in September.

Thanks Duncan, I should also point out that the sun was shining in Snowdonia in October. The wet patch on the platform in 3 is not rain, the tank overflowed when they were re-watering Lyd. There was no proper rain all weekend!
