Building work at Finse?
Author: marku51

I checked the webcam this morning (07:45 UK, 08:45 Norway) to find quite a bit of work going on at Finse. I've seen some other building supplies there recently, but nothing to this extent. I assume that the large pallets were unloaded from the flatcars (this was done before I was watching), and they were still unloading from the container at the end. The train stayed there until just after 9:00 Norway time, but I don't know how long it had been there for.

Yesterday a freight arrived at Finse with the materials and was parked one the adjacent track

Today(Thursday) at 4:48 am (Norway Time) a train stopped in fronton the hotel to have supplies unloaded

This is a good time of year to get large loads of supplies in since the hotel is closed until late July or early August.

It is a great weekend getaway spot located between Norway's two biggest cities, Oslo and Bergen. Skiing in winter, and a nice place to hike and spend time in the mountains in summer. Norwegians take their skiing and getting out into the countryside very seriously, many of them own cabins in the mountains.

...and for this forum, rail is the only way in and out.

It gained notoriety from being the place where the Hoth scenes were filmed in the Star Wars movie The Empire Strikes Back.
