European Railroad Discussion > SNCF opened two high-speed lines July 2Date: 07/07/17 21:26 SNCF opened two high-speed lines July 2 Author: illini73 Article from Railway Gazette International on the opening of LGV Sud Europe Atlantique and LGV Bretagne – Pays de la Loire:
http://www.railwaygazette.com/news/single-view/view/sncf-opens-two-high-speed-lines-in-one-day.html The former will provide 2-hour timings between Paris and Bordeaux. However, at the dedication ceremony, President Macron expressed his intention to focus future rail investments on renovating the conventional rail network, rather than building more high-speed lines. Or as he put it: "improving people's day-to-day travel". I believe there is some sense in France that needs of the conventional network have been ignored in favor of the higher-profile TGV/LGV projects. New legislation planned for next year will codify rail investment priorities and funding sources.
