European Railroad Discussion > Napiers on the looseDate: 10/30/17 04:19 Napiers on the loose Author: 55002 On Saturday October 28th, Deltic 55009 Alycidon was on display at Knottingley traction depot. On the Sunday, what better than to use it on a freight to Leeds Neville Hill Sidings. Seen here approaching Leeds station, nice 2-stroke exhaust and that lovely Napier roar which turned a few heads as it trundled through the station. Chris uk

I will never forget seeing 55009 on a misty morning in 1982 as it climbed through my village on the trans-Pennine Diggle route with a Saturday morning passenger train just before the Deltics were finally withdrawn....I could hear it coming from three miles away!
