Napiers on the loose
Author: 55002

On Saturday October 28th, Deltic 55009 Alycidon was on display at Knottingley traction depot. On the Sunday, what better than to use it on a freight to Leeds Neville Hill Sidings. Seen here approaching Leeds station, nice 2-stroke exhaust and that lovely Napier roar which turned a few heads as it trundled through the station. Chris uk

Really like the Deltic Class 55 units.
Good to see this one preserved and operating.
Thanks for posting your photo.

Ah the memories... I will never forget seeing 55009 on a misty morning in 1982 as it climbed through my village on the trans-Pennine Diggle route with a Saturday morning passenger train just before the Deltics were finally withdrawn....I could hear it coming from three miles away!
