European Railroad Discussion > Germany: Steam Special at Prignitzer KleinbahnmuseumDate: 11/01/17 03:14 Germany: Steam Special at Prignitzer Kleinbahnmuseum Author: Milepost_130 Located in northeastern Germany approximately half‐way between Berlin and Hamburg, Prignitzer Kleinbahnmuseum Lindenberg (Prignitz Narrow Gauge Railway Museum) features 9 kilometers of 750 mm gauge track linking the villages of Mesendorf and Lindenberg. A yard and small locomotive shop exist at Mesendorf, the northern terminus of the line. In Lindenberg, a railway museum houses many interesting artifacts related to the history of the former “Prignitzer Eisenbahn” (Prignitz Railway).
Occasionally, guest locomotives are transported to this museum, to power special trains during special events or for charter trips. Such was the case for a 3-week period in mid-October, 2017, when Deutsche Reichsbahn 99 590, 0-4-4-0T (Hartmann / Chemnitz 3670 / 1912), borrowed from Pressnitztalbahn, Jõhstadt, Sachsen, was in steam at Prignitzer Kleinbahnmuseum. DR 99 590 is a Sächsiche IV K Meyer System locomotive (not a Mallet). In previous years, several other steam locomotives have been loaned by Pressnitztalbahn, Mansfelder Berkwerksbahn, Rügenschen Bäderbahn, and other German steam preservation societies. On Monday, October 30, 2017, Prignitzer Kleinbahnmuseum staged a day-long series of trains powered by DR 99 590, disguised at DR 99 557. DR 99 557 had once operated on the former “Prignitzer Eisenbahn.” Several images are attached: • DR 99 557 profile image, Lindenberg • DR 99 557 and train departing Klenzenhof Halststelle (Halststelle = Flag stop) • DR 99 557 and train arriving at Vettin Abzweig (Abzweig = Junction) DR 99 590, 0-4-4-0T (Hartmann / Chemnitz 3670 / 1912), Sächsiche IV K, Meyer System Prignitzer Kleinbahnmuseum: http://www.pollo.de/ Edited 2 time(s). I always enjoy seeing photos of European steam and particularly those in Germany of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. My family immigrated over from Sachsen and Mecklenburg. I once rode the Molli on my trip to Germany in 2002.

Date: 11/02/17 00:35 Germany: Trabant at Prignitzer Kleinbahnmuseum Author: Milepost_130 We are uncertain of the vintage of the Trabant in the image. We believe it was built in the mid-1980s (but you probably could have guessed that).

The last roll out was in 1991 or 1992 as an "Trabant 1.1" with an new Volkswagen four cycle prime mover. Phil |
