Helsinki to Vladivostok-Part 11
Author: CNStratford

Picture 1- A modern tram decorated in the colours of the Russian flag.
Picture 2- Rain starting as our day in Moscow nears an end.
Picture 3 - By the time we got on the Rossiya - the name of the train from Moscow to Vladivostok - heavy snow was falling. The lighted door would be our entryway to seven nights and six days on the train - reported to be the longest train ride in the world. Most tourists get off at intermediate stops. We train fans just wanted the train ride. Ten minutes after the Rossiya left, the train to Ulan Bator followed. Most tourists take this train.

Russian cars have great heat. Even the newer types except the newest double deck sleepers and diners, all have a coal boiler at one end. The Provodnik or Provodnitsa will fire it up during the day and they really keep the car comfortable, i think the heat is assisted with electric baseboard heat as well. The samovar in every car helps keep the car comfortable as well.
