Saturday's [Visitor] Polish Flashback
Author: gbmott

At many events DB or the Czech Railway would send a visiting locomotive. Here are a few:

1. ČSD 498-106 - Warsaw-Głowny 6-12-95. The Czechs had sent a second 4-8-2 as well, 475-196.

2. DB 23-105 - Warsaw-Głowny 6-14-95

3. DR 03-204 - Szczecin-Głowny 8-14-93

Those Czechoslovak Mountains are superb examples of modern steam engineering. I saw 498-104 which is operated by the Albatross Klub of Bratislava in action in 2014.

Thanks for sharing all these pics with us. Is 498.104 the only one of this class currently serviceable?

Best I can find out, she's at the National Technical Museum in Prague. Visiting there late summer so I'll double check.

It might be in the Museum's depot in Chomutov, north of Prague.

Ah -- please see my query regarding the third photo in your 3/27 Flashback post. Did DR [ as it still was then, I believe ] also send a VT 18.16, later class 175, as another member of their historic contingent ?

With best regards, SZ

Yes, thank you. I wondered what else, Polish or otherwise, could have a roofline like that.

Photo of one of the two* interior VM's in the Neptun dept Copenhagen early am [ hence, 1/60th....] in '66; I never saw the all red one, darn it.

Hope to see more passenger cars and maybe [ hopefully ] electric mu's / preserved electrics in future posts.

Best regards, SZ

*The original configuration was just VT-VM-VM-VT.
