Nafplion Greece service
Author: yooperfan

A recent vacation visit to Nafplion Greece (a beautiful city near Athens) showed an unused but decent condition narrow gauge line to the city. When did passenger service end? Any plans to reinstate it? Thank you.

I rode the narrow gauge SPAP (Piraeus, Athens, Peloponnese Railway) line from Athens to Corinth some 30 years ago when it was a fully functioning railway. Today you can ride on the new standard gauge line to Corinth, but that's it. Greece's financial woes put paid to the narrow gauge.

I too enjoyed the narrow guage trains, and glad I did them when I had the chance. I had one burst on an overnight from Kalamata, reached by a following DMU.
