Hupac Group SA of Switzerland has agreed to purchase ERS Railways BV of the Netherlands from Genesee & Wyoming, including ERS Railways' 47% stake in Hamburg based BoxXpress with the sale closing at the end of 2Q 2018 subject to regulatory approval. ERS Railways was founded in 1994 by Maersk Lines, in Rotterdam to provide a link from the Port of Rotterdam to German cities in the Ruhr and Bavaria, later also providing service to Switzerland and Italy.

Hupac is the second largest IMC in Europe, the largest Trans-Alpine operator, and the fastest growing operator in the EU - China market. Hupac operates 110 trains daily, and owns or leases 5,900 Intermodal Flatcars.
